Step-by-Step Guide: Controlling the Electrically Driven Doors of BMW 7 Series or i7 with the My BMW App

Another comfort-enhancing feature of the new BMW 7 Series is the optional automatic doors. To open or close the front and rear doors, passengers simply touch the handles set flush into the body or the buttons in the BMW Interaction Bar at the front of the cabin or the rear door trim. The opening and closing sequence can also be activated using the key fob.

New technology includes a helpful Safe Exit function. Utilizing the data from 12 ultrasound sensors on either side of the vehicle, occupants are warned when an approaching pedestrian, cyclist, or vehicle would be endangered if a door were opened. Visual and audible cues alert the occupants and the door will not open until the hazard has passed. An integral servo mode allows the doors to be opened and closed manually with minimal effort.

To control the electrically driven doors of the BMW 7 Series or i7 with the My BMW App, please follow these steps:

1. Download and install the My BMW App on your smartphone. The app is available for both iOS and Android devices.
2. Log in to the My BMW App using your BMW ConnectedDrive credentials. If you do not have a BMW ConnectedDrive account, you can create one in the app.
3. Once you are logged in, select your BMW 7 Series or i7 from the list of available vehicles in the app.
4. From the main menu of the app, select “Remote Services.”
5. In the “Remote Services” menu, select “Vehicle Status.”
6. In the “Vehicle Status” menu, you will see a list of available functions, including “Lock” and “Unlock.”
7. To control the electrically driven doors, select “Lock” or “Unlock” as desired.
8. If your BMW is equipped with the Comfort Access feature, you can also use the app to open and close the doors without having to use the key fob. To do this, select “Comfort Access” from the “Vehicle Status” menu, and then select “Open Doors” or “Close Doors” as desired.

Note that some functions may not be available on all BMW models or in all regions. Additionally, certain functions may require an active BMW ConnectedDrive subscription.
