What qualifies a BMW to become a Certified Pre-Owned BMW?

• Overview
• Financing
• Warranty
• Certification

Only the best pre-owned BMWs qualify for the Certified Pre-Owned BMW Vehicle Program. To be eligible for enrollment in the Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Program, a late-model vehicle must be in service for at least six months or have more than 6,000 miles but less than 60,000 miles on the odometer. They must pass an extensive examination – a thorough and rigorous inspection by BMW factory-trained technicians. They inspect the vehicle for safety, performance and wear. If something is not right, it is fixed. If it cannot be fixed, the car cannot become a Certified Pre-Owned BMW.

In short, we’re picky. But when you see everything covered under our Protection Plan, you’ll understand why.

Ask to see the Certified Pre-Owned Inspection Checklist. It is your assurance of the quality, reliability and overall pleasure BMW owners have come to expect.

Warranty
The Certified Pre-Owned BMW Warranty protects you against defects in materials or workmanship for a wide range of vehicle components. The Warranty is administered by BMW of North America, LLC, ensuring that covered repairs are performed by BMW-trained technicians using only genuine BMW replacement parts. And, since this is a BMW-backed program, you won’t have to wait for a third-party adjuster to decide whether your repair is covered, Your BMW center can make the determination right on the spot.

Although the Certified Pre-Owned BMW Limited Warranty is extremely comprehensive, it is not an extension of the original 4-year/50,000 mile New BMW Vehicle Limited Warranty. The Certified Pre-Owned BMW Limited Warranty takes over when the BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty expires, and the coverage it provides is somewhat different from the new car warranty.

Using CARFAX vehicle history reports, every used vehicle’s title can be researched against an extensive database. CARFAX Vehicle History Reports include title information (including salvaged or junked titles), flood damage history, total loss accident history, odometer readings, lemon history, number of owners, accident indicators (such as airbag deployments), state emissions inspection results, service records, and vehicle use (taxi, rental, lease, etc.). This high level of consumer protection allows you to choose and purchase any of our quality vehicles with the confidence you deserve. Note: CARFAX records may be incomplete and there may also be delays in reporting information. Some vehicles may be subject to manufacturer safety recalls that for various reasons may not be repaired prior to sale. You may also check for open manufacturer recalls for a vehicle from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s recall website, https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/

Passport also offers used vehicle recall status information via a link to the U.S. government’s official website (www.safercar.gov). Recall status information is also available on the Carfax Vehicle History Report link on the vehicle listing and vehicle details pages. Please understand, however, that the information on safecar.gov or the Carfax Vehicle History Report may not be up to date for two reasons. First, recently announced recalls may not yet appear. Second, there is a lag time between when a recall repair is made and when the repair is reported to these websites. As a result, a recall that has been repaired may still appear as open on safercar.gov or Carfax for a period of time. Most open recalls are repaired prior to delivery, but there may be some that are not. Before purchasing a used vehicle, make sure you ask the dealer for the most recent status available regarding any open recalls. Manufacturer-authorized dealerships typically repair recalls at no cost to you.
