The new BMW X5 debuts at the New York International Auto Show in April.

2011 X5 models deliver more substance and presence than ever before.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – February 6, 2010 6:00pm Eastern Time - This spring, BMW will write the latest chapter in the story of the world's first Sports Activity Vehicle®, the BMW X5. Originally launched for the 2000 model year in late 1999, the BMW X5 permanently changed the automotive landscape. It proved that the driving dynamics, responsiveness, and linear control signature to every BMW could be compatible with utility, versatility, and other-roads capability. For 2011, the BMW X5 models are enhanced with new powertrains and updated design. The new BMW X5 will make its North American debut at the New York International Auto Show in April, and will go on sale at authorized BMW Centers shortly thereafter.

Innovative new design elements and powertrains are the result of over 4,000 new parts created by BMW designers and engineers for the 2011 BMW X5. Two of the X5's powertrains will be all-new for 2011, creating the new X5 xDrive50i and X5 xDrive35i, in addition to the familiar BMW Advanced Diesel X5 xDrive35d. All models receive a design update that enhances the brilliant focus and aesthetic appearance of the X5 brand.

Fresh Design. Well-Balanced Proportions.
The body design of the 2011 BMW X5 is characterized by well-balanced proportions that accentuate the vehicle's powerful presence and agility. A long wheelbase, short front and rear body overhangs, and large light-alloy wheels provide a visual balance between the front and rear of the vehicle. Square-shaped, carefully flared wheel arches hint at the X5's all-wheel drive traction and other-roads capability. The body lines sweep upwards from the front and rear wheels, communicating BMW's near-perfect 50-50 front-rear weight distribution which is so essential to the X5's legendary driving dynamic.

The 2009 BMW 7 Series: The Most Advanced Luxury Sedan Yet, by Popular Science

As tech-laden as it is furnished in superior comfort, the 2009 BMW 750i, and the even more spacious 750Li, "exemplify the latest trends in automotive technology." A more efficient engine purges 400 hp out of its TwinPower Turbocharged V-8, making it faster than the outgoing V-12 model; and "even the once-scorned iDrive gets it right, with an enormous high-res screen and effortless control of vehicle functions."

The 2009 BMW750i and its larger brother, the 750Li, exemplify the latest trends in automotive technology. First, there’s the smaller, more efficient engine; a twin-turbocharged V8 spools up to 400 horsepower, making the new 7 faster than the outgoing V12-powered model. Inside, the ridiculously spacious sedan is loaded. The High-Beam Assist monitors approaching cars, automatically dims the brights, and switches them back on the instant the car passes. Infrared Night Vision detects pedestrians in your path and warns you on the head-up display. Even the once-scorned iDrive gets it right, with an enormous high-res screen and effortless control of vehicle functions. Europeans get extras that may eventually float our way: full Web-surfing capability and a camera system that reads road signs and displays speed limits.

The restyled 2011 3 Series Coupe and Convertible, coming Spring 2010.

Efficiency Never Looked So Stylish.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ - January 16, 2010 6pm Eastern Time... BMW has announced substantial enhancements to the 2011 3 Series Coupe and Convertible, including outstanding style updates for 328i and 335i models and a new engine for 335i models. The 2011 3 Series Coupe and Convertible models will go on sale in Spring 2010, and pricing will be announced closer to the on-sale date.

BMW Advanced Diesel Engine For North America Named To Ward's Annual 10 Best.

For the 2010 model year and the second year in a row, BMW's sequential twin-turbo inline-6 diesel engine was elected to the 10 Best Engines list by the Ward's AutoWorld panel of expert judges. To win a place on the 10 Best Engines list, an engine must score highly in measures of horsepower, torque, refinement, technical relevance, and comparative data.

''BMW's EfficientDynamics strategy is focused on building greener, more fuel efficient engines without sacrificing performance. The goal was to create the most sophisticated diesel engine in the world. The re-election of BMW's Advanced Diesel engine to the Ward's 10 Best Engines list validates our team's accomplishment,'' said Hans Hohenner, General Manager of Drivetrain Development for BMW Group. ''The 335d Sedan demonstrates that BMW vehicles have never been more environmentally friendly and very much proves that The Ultimate Driving Machine is alive and well.''

Featuring all-aluminum construction, BMW's 3.0-liter sequential twin-turbo Advanced Diesel inline-6 offers V-8 performance with four-cylinder fuel efficiency: 265 horsepower and 425 lb-ft of torque. EPA efficiency figures are 23 (city) / 36 (highway) in the 2010 BMW 335d Sedan, which is capable of 0 - 60mph in 6.0 seconds or better. Those figures make the 335d Sedan the fastest diesel-powered passenger car available in the US. It is also the most fuel efficient vehicle BMW has ever sold here. In addition to the 335d Sedan, this BMW Advanced Diesel engine is available in the X5 xDrive35d Sports Activity Vehicle, which is capable of 0 - 60mph in 6.9 seconds and 26 mpg on the highway.
