Lately, industry experts have been whispering about an exciting new model from BMW. Specifically, auto connoisseurs at Autocar maintain that in the fall, we'll see the arrival of the first-ever front-wheel drive BMW vehicle.
Now, before we get too far ahead of ourselves, Passport BMW feels it's important to point out that BMW itself has not yet confirmed this information. Therefore, we could simply have an automotive myth on our hands. If the rumors are true, however, the front-wheel drive model will likely debut in concept form at the Paris Motor Show and be called the BMW 1 Series GT.
As for the model-in-question's underpinnings, industry professionals believe that all signs point to a turbo 1.5-liter three-cylinder spitting out power. For those who are well versed in the ways of BMW engines, this powerplant would essentially be half of the automaker's current 3.0-liter inline six offering.
At this point in time, Passport BMW may not be able to stamp the potential FWD auto as "fact" or "fiction," but we can certainly keep our ears perked for any new information or details. While you're waiting to learn more, we encourage you to leave a comment below and let us know what you think. Should BMW offer up a front-wheel drive option?
