G Power Makes Over the 2011 BMW X5

G Power certainly loves tinkering with BMW models like the X5 SUV, and we love seeing them! Previously, they overhauled the last-gen BMW X5, giving a Typhoon body kit, and needless to say, we were impressed! Now, they're at it again, this time with the 2011 BMW X5, and everyone here at Passport BMW is quite impressed!
Added to the 2011 BMW X5 are a plethora of aerodynamic enhancements, aimed a finely tuning the X5's performance. Aside from the aerodynamic benefit that G Power's overhaul has given the X5, we must also say that the Typhoon body kit has turned the final model is undistinguishable from its pure, unadulterated counterpart.
What does the new BMW X5 Typhoon feature? How do an enormous pair of wing extensions on the front and rear ends; a new bumper with huge air intakes and LED lights; a super lightweight, carbon-fiber vented bonnet; a custom diffuser; and 23-inch Silverstone Edition forged wheels wrapped in high-performance Michelin tires sound? As if that weren't enough though, they've also equipped the X5 with custom-made side skirts to give it that drag-racing ready look.
Speaking of which, the current BMW X5 is available for a test drive. It may not feature the Typhoon body that G Power has imbued one lucky model with, but we're sure that once you're behind the wheel, you'll still notice the performance and style that BMW packs into every new model. However, the true upgrade to the BMW X5 doesn't only come from Aerodynamics, they've done a little bit of work under the hood too! With a little help from their SK III program, the people at G Power was able to amplify the output of the BMW X5 xDrive48's engine (170-hp 4.8-liter V8) to 525 horsepower at 6,100 rpm. They also raised the torque to an impressive 443 lb.-ft. at 5,300 rpm. Overall, this calculates into a 4.7-second 0-62 mph acceleration time, and top speed of over 170 mph (up from 155 mph).
