We all know the name Richard Hamann and especially Hamann Motorsports. Just hearing the name Hamann conjures thoughts of performance, tuning, and style. Hamann motorsports is well known amongst many BMW enthusiasts both professional and at the hobby level. It comes as no shock then that the automotive community as a whole was fairly shaken up upon hearing word of Mr. Richard Hamann's death.

We here at Passport BMW are no different, but we also know that our favorite Bavarian automaker wouldn't let his death go unnoticed. As it turns out, neither would the great minds at Hamman Motorsports, who promised Mr. Hamman that business would continue as usual in his honor. That is, after all, exactly what he would want.

So what exactly did they do? Hamann Motorsports created a new tuning package for the BMW 650i Convertible, and they debuted it at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This new tuning kit is a tribute to everything that Hamann loved about Motorsports. Every aspect of his passion and pure genius is felt in the retuned BMW 650i Convertible, which is why we thought we'd take a minute to share some info on it with you.

Exterior wise, the Hamann-tuned BMW 650i Convertible is more dynamic, sporty, and sleek. It features front and rear spoilers, new LED daytime running headlamps, and new side skirts. Another change that Hamann motorsports made was to drop the suspension by 1.3 inches. But, we think that the final touch is the most personal. Hamman Motorsports will let drives choose between Hamann EDITION RACE ANODIZED or ANNIVERSARY EVO wheels available in different sizes and designs.

Inside, the customization continues with the choice to include black anodize aluminum accents and personalized floor mats. This is one tuning package that really does cater to the individual needs and tastes of drivers.

But, we all know that tuning really comes down to what goes on under the hood. And, we can safely say that the Hamann BMW 650i Convertible does not disappoint in this sense either! Rather, it is juiced up with a sport exhaust system, featuring four stainless steel tailpipes and an ECU upgrade. This results in the retuned BMW 650i Convertible achieving an incredible 110 more horsepower than its normal 4.4-liter V8 engine can produce, for a total of 510 horsepower!
