Saab and BMW Join Forces

There's big news happening in the automotive industry. Today, two auto giants are joining forces. BMW & Saab. Two of the best known foreign car companies are coming together as one.

Their plan is to share research, development and production of completed engine models. This agreement to share engine technology came after some very secretive meetings, which were only broken today by The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. Leave it to two new giants to break the story behind two car legends.

BMW has been working on their Vision EfficientDynamics (VED for short, sounds like a new video game system) for several years. But all that planning, research and development is paying off, as the German auto maker continues to show off teases of that possibly already completed concept car.

The production version of BMW's Vision EfficientDynamics (VED) Concept is coming to reality as the company's very own teaser site, Dontblogaboutthis.com, has released a new video, which shows the vehicle in action.

BMW 1 Series Coupe

The BMW 1-Series M Coupe has been teased online for months, and was even rendered by those who can guess at what the vehicle will look like. BMW's addition to their numbered series line will mark the first addition in decades.

The car made it to the 2010 Paris Motor Show, but it didn't stick around for fans to give it their full attention.

BMW Signs Hybrid Agreement

What's the best to battle the competition both home and broad? Simple - join forces with them. That's what BMW is going to do overseas with Peugeot, the French automobile and bicycle producer.

According to reports, "BMW and PSA Peugeot Citroen have signed an agreement to jointly develop hybrid powertrains for front-wheel drive vehicles."

Details are limited at this juncture, but BMW says this business partnership will "standardize key elements for the electrification of vehicles" as well as "leverage significant economies of scale for both partners."
